West Ham v Chelsea Player Ratings

|

Fabianski:8 Claimed the ball well following a driving run from Loftus-Cheek. Fantastic save on 33 mins denied Chelsea a certain goal, then tipped a Felix free-kick around the post. Set-up a counter attack with a magnificent long throw.

Coufal:7 Put in the cross for Emerson’s goal. Missed a glorious opportunity to play in Benrahma who would have been free om goal. Fouled everyone and battled bravely.

Fabianski – three or four fine saves

Kehrer:8 Made his obligatory first minute error offering Chelsea a free-kick in front of goal.  Dispossessed Felix in midfield on a few occasions which helped break-up some Chelsea momentum. Much improved performance.

Ogbonna:8 Poor Oggy probably feels 10 years older but he stood up to the challenge of Chelsea’s attacking movement.

Aguerd:7 Caught napping for Chelsea’s opening goal. Improved as the game progressed and denied Havertz twice. Sustained an injury late on.

Emerson:8 Scored the equalizer with a timely run and finish at the back post. Some excellent defending too, his best game for West Ham.

Rice:8 Had his hands full in midfield and performed admirably. He can’t have helped but admire the quality in Chelsea’s team whilst he was constantly fighting fires.

Paqueta: Injured his shoulder in an early collision. Tried to battle on replaced in the 13th minute.

Bowen:7 Great flick-on to set-up Emerson for West Ham’s opening goal. Poor decision making and execution killed two promising counter attacks. Took the game to Chilwell following his introduction.

Benrahma:5 Struggling to find his early season form. One good run but precious little else.

Antonio:7 Forced Kepa into a save following a rare attack. Incredibly hard working performance. Wonderful hold-up play and turn won a free-kick. Bizarrely subbed when he looked to be getting the better of Chelsea’s defence.

Soucek:7 13th minute replacement for the injured Paqueta. Dived in front of a Felix shot to deny Chelsea a chance. Defended well, struggled with his technique but found himself in attacking positions during the last 20 mins. Had a goal ruled out for offside then found himself lucky not to have conceded a penalty for handball.

Downes:6 Replaced Benrahma in the 66th min. Set-up stall in midfield to help out.

Ings:5 66 min substitute for Antonio. Not really suited to how we were playing and struggled.

Johnson:7 79th min substitute for Aguerd. Two very important clearances. Excellent cameo.
