West Ham women show up men

|

West Ham women beat Reading women while their male counterparts remain winless in five.

Hammer Alisha Lehmann’s 75-minute strike was the difference at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday, securing a crucial win in the FA Women’s Continental Cup group stages.

Manager Matt Beard was thrilled with how his side performed against the Royals telling West Ham TV

“It was a really good team performance today, we had to dig deep at the end. Reading are a direct side that put you under pressure, and they are very dangerous at set plays as well, but I felt we dealt with it well.

“We had to win today if we wanted to have the opportunity to progress in this competition, so we knew we had to win, and I felt we thoroughly deserved it. Once we settled in, with the changed system today, it worked well for us. It was a tough game and it was a thoroughly deserved win.”
