West Ham were back in Portugal again allegedly scouting William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon.
Scouts from Manchester City, Manchester United, Nice, Montpellier and Borussia Dortmund were also present at the game but it West Ham who made the headlines in the local press. A Bolo ran a headline saying West Ham ‘won’t let William go’ in their article on the Hammers scouting mission.
Recently, David Sullivan, said: ‘Only the manager can sign players. Going forward, we are going to completely re-jig it, I am going to delegate the whole thing to a huge new analysis system and a new head of recruitment, massive video analysis department, increase the scouting, every player will be looked at 5 or 6 times, we won’t be signing a player based on who the manager has never seen play.
The manager will watch him play and we hope we will spend our money better.’
If that statement is true they a sure sign that Carvalho will be a summer target will be the attendance of David Moyes at a Sporting Lisbon game.
