The bookmakers seem to traditionally have a grasp on what is going on. Below is a list of West Ham managerial candidates and their prices.

It appears that they believe Julen Lopetegui is the man most likely to sit in David Moyes’ soon to be empty chair at the London stadium. There are of course, the usual suspects on the list (Fat Sam at 33/1) and I was somewhat surprised to see Brendan Rodgers (10/1) reasonably high in the betting as well.

Julen Lopetegui
9/4
Graham Potter
7/2
Gary O’Neil
5/1
William Still
7/1
Michael Carrick
8/1
Paulo Fonseca

Brendan Rodgers

Hansi Flick

Ruben Amorim

Rafa Benitez

That’s quite a list. Arne Slot appears to be favourite for the Liverpool. Does that keep the door open for Ruben Amorim to take over from Moyes? I have against Brendan Rogers joining the Hammers. COYI… get it done!

Oh no, not another pragmatic manager! As if we haven’t had enough of Moyesball, we could now be in for Lopeteguiball. It’s a bit of a mouthful so it’s a no from me.

Looking through the list, we could have Potterball, Stillball (doesn’t sound good), Flickball (ticky tacky?), Slotball (video game), Nobleball (really?), Marschball, Parkerball (or bus) or Bielsaball to name just a few.

Sorry, just trying to make light of a Hammer fan’s stressful wait to see how our club is preparing for the new season’s next level!

Graham Potter for me. The negative vibes regarding Chelsea were not really down to him but a new owner flooding the squad with unrequested players.

He did a great job with Swansea and more so with Brighton and knows the premier League better than most of the rest of the names
