West Ham’s Danish duo | Hammers goal keeper teaser

IN case you missed it, yesterday the Hammers were reported by several news outlets as wanting to bring Danish goal keeper coach Casper Ankergren from Brnondby to the London Stadium.

The more interesting part of the story (with the greatest respect to Casper who I am sure is a great guy) was the link with who might be headed along with Ankergren: Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen and Ankergren have worked together before and the speculation was high that the 24 year old may be headed to West Ham along with his former mentor.

Following up on yesterday, Claret and Hugh enquired regarding the veracity of these reports of our high ranking source at the club. Not expecting much, you understand, as it is difficult, of course, to get a light shone on live negotiations during the transfer window.

Our enquiry sought to see if what we’d heard regarding the rumours over a ‘duo’ was correct: The response we received as welling:

What are [the] rumours we plan to bring in two”.

Two coaches? You’d have thought probably not. One coach and one ‘keeper? Tantalising… And then upon further questioning the door was slammed shut “ Sorry I can’t comment at this stage about anybody!”

Our club source has been very quick in recent days to shoot down any rumoured bids where none have been made –  so what we found interesting was that there was not an immediate rebuttal.. Suggests to me that we may have been on the right track. Certainly a more exciting track than the links with Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale.

Maybe I’m taking 2+2 and making 17. Wouldn’t be the first time.

It may be that the Hammers are getting two goal keeping coaches.

But on the other hand…. This is why I love the transfer window.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

I don’t love the transfer window – as far as I am concerned it is all wild rumours , made up guess work , & disappointment.
