From yesterday’s toothless performance in Germany, West Ham’s modest goal threat continues to occupy supporters and West Ham’s blog sites ahead of the team’s Championship campaign.
If – and it is by no means certain – Nuno decides to strengthen West Ham’s from line, one Championship-proven striker continues to be linked with West Ham’s recruitment team’s attention, with just two weeks before the new season gets underway.
Previously on the shortlist produced by ‘Ex’, Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor again received ‘numerous mentions’ this weekend as continuing to be a player of interest at London Stadium ..
Altogether now .. ‘We hope“:
“Sunderland attacker Wilson Isidor is on West Ham United‘s list of attacking targets and is ahead of Al Ittihad’s George Ilenikhena, according to Hammers insider ExWHUemployee.” (insidefutbol.com)
A whiff of further internet intrigue has been scented around West Ham’s links with Isidor, as it has been ‘confirmed’ by various Sunderland fan sites that Isidor has returned early to the UK to deal with a ‘personal issue’ but .. ‘should’ be back in training next week. Cue speculation (AKA ‘clutching at straws’) all round.
“Sunderland Star Ahead Of Linked Hitman On Club’s Wanted List:
“He [Isidor] has two years left on his contract with the Black Cats and Sunderland could agree to offload him this summer if the right offer comes their way, although it would also need Isidor to agree to drop down into the Championship. And with Sunderland involved in the Europa League, that would likely be an even tougher sell for West Ham.

West Ham target Wilson Isidor
Isidor featured 46 times in the Championship for Sunderland and West Ham clearly believe he would be a powerful asset in their squad…The Haiti international played a key role in the Black Cats’ promotion campaign in 2024/25, contributing to 14 goals in 43 Championship appearances”
Fourteen goals in 43 might not seem like a world beater but as the Irons’ goal scoring options look particularly sparse just now, £20 million looks a far better bet for Isidor than the same figure thrown against the wall in the hope of acquiring a striker last winter. One rumour we sincerely hope will grow in the remaining four weeks of the window.
