West Ham’s recruitment drive has reportedly hit the same brick wall over and over again this summer as clubs are demanding eye‑watering fees, and the Hammers are refusing to be bullied into overpaying.
It’s therefore surprising that Nuno and his recruitment team aren’t exploring season long loan deals, especially with the Championship’s generous allowance of five loan players. Yet so far, the only loan being explored is a move for Jaden Dixon at Arsenal, and nothing more substantial has emerged.
Supporters are growing restless at the lack of transfer activity yet every target seems to come with a price tag that’s either inflated, unrealistic, or simply designed to scare West Ham off.
That’s not to say West Ham won’t commit to a deal that makes sense.
Arne Engels seems likely to be the clubs first signing at £25 million plus. Two bids have already been rejected, and Celtic turned down £25m from Nottingham Forest just eight months ago. The message is clear, pay up or move on.

Outside of this West Ham have been quoted £20 million for Republic of Ireland international Troy Parrott, a player with potential, yes, but that’s a-lot of money for a striker still proving himself.
The former West Ham loanee, Axel Disasi is available yet at £25 million, Chelsea have named their price, as the defender is far from guaranteed minutes at Stamford Bridge, and training alone. This is a deal West Ham are keen to close, and it’s more about the player seeking football at a higher level.
Negotiations with Cardiff City for Dylan Lawlor have not really progressed. The Welsh club are asking for £15m+, they know they have a gem and are pricing him like one and are reluctant to sell, despite his limited senior experience.
Sunderland are also proving difficult regarding enquiries West Ham have made for for two of their players. Simon Adingra is one of them. The Mackems paid big money and now want even bigger money back, believed to be £30 million.
Another Sunderland player with a sky high Premier League‑level valuation is Wilson Isidor (main pic) at £20 million. The Haiti international has Championship experience, just 12 goals in 43 games – hardly prolific.
Lastly, Morgan Whittaker at Middlesbrough who have slapped a firm price tag on him, £20 million and won’t budge.
The pattern is obvious, every selling club sees West Ham as a Premier League‑level buyer with Premier League‑level money, given the transfer fees the club have received in player sales, even though the Hammers are now operating in the Championship.
That mismatch will drive the club toward smarter deals, structured offers, and especially loans with options, rather than paying £20–£30m fees for players who may not be worth half that in a normal market.
Nuno wants quality, but he also wants value. And right now, value is almost impossible to find. West Ham will strengthen, but not at any price.
The Hammers will keep every avenue open, and it now feels inevitable that a large chunk of their business will be pushed toward the final stretch of the window, when selling clubs may soften their stance and finally allow deals for the clubs priority targets to move.
I am getting very tired of the club keep saying players are over priced. I am sure people will say the same about Summerville and Fernandes we have sold.

It is not acceptable that the fans have backed the club in a massive way as far as season ticket sales go, so let’s repay them with some new signings to look forward to watching.
