Elliot Lee has finished his loan with Colchester United and now his future with West Ham is in the balance with his contract with West Ham expiring in 19 days time.
The striker took to social media to say “Now it’s time to relax… Been a long, frustrating, enjoyable, up and down, successful season! Looking forward to a well earned break! 😎☀️🙌🏻 Let’s see what the future holds.”
The club would usually extend a contract of a player they want to keep at least six months before the contract end so the future looks bleak for the 21 year son of Rob Lee.
Lee made first appearance in a West Ham first-team squad on 1st January 2013 when he was an unused substitute in a Premier League game against Norwich City. Lee then made his professional debut for West Ham, as a 78th-minute substitute for Ricardo Vaz Tê, on 16th January 2013 in a 1–0 defeat in the FA Cup 3rd Round replay at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
He has been loaned to Colchester United twice making 19 appearances and scoring 3 times and he has also had spells at Blackpool, Southend United and Luton Town. His older brother, Olly, formerly with West Ham Academy, now plays for Luton.
A number of Championship clubs and league one clubs are said to be interested when he becomes a free agent in the summer. Colchester have been relegated to League two after finishing second from bottom this season.
Reports say former Hammer and team mate of Lee, George Moncur will be allowed to leave Colchester this summer. Sky sources claim Barnsley and Peterborough have made contact over a deal for Moncur.
