Dean Smith. Blimey. What a BAD loser!
The Aston Villa boss is under severe pressure at Villa Park after a really poor run of form after that deal taking Jack Grealish to Man City in the summer.
They banked £100m and then looked to throw it up the wall.
They were were well beaten by a Hammers team not always at their best but who have spent nothing like Villa last summer yet the midlanders were well beaten – that type of score line does not lie.
The majority of opportunities that did come Villa’s way came from the Hammers’ sloppiness more than genuine class from the Villans.
Still, Smith couldn’t take it.
He whined afterwards about the “poor decision” that saw Ezri Konsa sent off. That’s the Villa defender Ezri Konsa. The Ezri Konsa that hauled down Jarrod Bowen when he was clean through on goal and was shown a red card after a VAR review. Unbelievable. He also felt things “went against” Villa. Yeah. Four times!
That’s without mentioning the fact that Kortney Hause could also have been sent off for an errant elbow on Pablo Fornals in the build-up.
Smith is currently the bookies’ favourite, amazingly, to be the next England manager if Gareth Southgate does leave.
It’s impossible to imagine two more polar opposite managers when it comes to their class and grace, particularly in defeat.
Smith can keep moaning all he wants, but his side were well beaten on Sunday by a top team. End of!
I believe that Dean Smith is your average run of the mill manager and that his pack of cards was always gonna collapse once Grealish left. I’m not the biggest fan of Mr “Fall Over if the Wind Blows” Grealish but he was the best thing that they had going for them. I see that they are still working from the John Terry playbook on the dark arts which the whole squad seems to be utilising.
It’s a reoccurring theme with managers when they lose to try and put the loss down to the opposing team as these managers are in such fear of being sussed out and sacked by their chairmen (the same thing happened with Nuno).
They were lucky not to have two players sent off… Which further highlighted the incompetence of the VAR system if anyone needed reminding that the system is not fit for purpose.
I think those bookies need to be tested for drugs as Dean Smith will NEVER be capable of managing England as long as he has a hole……..you know the rest.
Hugh, I couldn’t agree more. Dean Smith is out of his depth in the Premier League. His Aston Villa side are an ugly team to watch, even when they had Grealish in it.
I used to like the club – but not these days.
I am waiting to hear the next PL manager ,that looses to us,blame the defeat on global warming. The main factor here is we won without being at our best.
