Zaha should face ban over Rice spit

|

West Ham supporters have called for Crystal Palace forward Wilfred Zaha to be banned for spitting in the direction of  Declan Rice at the London Stadium during yesterday’s 2-1 defeat. The moment was captured on camera shows Zaha clearly spitting with malice after Rice passed him,

In 2011 a then 18-year-old Zaha was dismissed for spitting at Patrick van Aanholt, but the red card has been rescinded after a review of video evidence. Zaha would have had to serve a four-match suspension had the dismissal not been overturned after a successful Crystal Palace appeal.

The FA can retrospectively ban players based on video evidence. The rules allow the review of off-the-ball incidents where one or more match official did see the incident but their view was such that none of them had the opportunity to make a decision on an act of misconduct that took place.

The 26-year-old Palace player was also accused by fans of inciting the away crowd, he ran over to West Ham fans in blocks 114 and 113 in the West stand lower gesturing to them and causing a disturbance after VAR gave the visitors their second goal.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour .The f.a need to come down hard on him.

  • Ross says:

Absolutely no evidence this was aimed at Rice, or landed anywhere near Rice. Would suspect this is why the the video cuts off half the picture to hide this to put across the agenda. In regards to incitement of the crowd can see a particular part of the crowd bottom left corner especially where aggressive towards him throughout he game- celebrating in front of opposition fans is common. This whole article looks like sour grapes to me

    You lost, get over it.

yeah we did BUT when Masuaku got a ban for the same thing it is only fair that Zaha gets banned too , it is a disgusting thing to do anywhere and he is at fault, FACT !!!!

  • Russell Burke says:

    Ban him!!!

  • Salty says:

Salty hammers fans throwing their toys out the pram. This wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular he had just finished a big run and was tired. Nobody mentioned spitting or picked it up on replays; and if he was intentionally spitting at someone. It would be all anyone spoke about.

As I said, salty hammers fans throwing their toys out the pram.

I get the commotion, but seems like farce, especially as someone could only record half the screen with their phones. Just take the fact you lost and move on with dignity please.

Your evidence is suspect at best (facepalm).
