Zouma update

|

Kurt Zouma is set to be available for selection this weekend against Newcastle.

The Hammers defender missed the clash with Leicester after falling ill in the build-up and was replaced by Issa Diop.

Diop actually played remarkably well against the Foxes as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw, with Jarrod Bowen’s goal coming from the centre-back’s long ball forward.

Now, a club insider has confirmed that Zouma has recovered and is in contention to play against the Magpies this weekend.

The game is something of a must-win as the Irons bid to stay in touch with the top four and continue their push for European qualification.

Newcastle have been in excellent form in recent weeks and have won all of their last three games, climbing clear of the drop zone as a result.

Going into the game, West Ham are two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who edged past Brighton in midweek.

Our source said: “Zouma is recovering slowly and expected to be fit for the game against Newcastle.”
