|

Michail1David Sullivan has tonight sent a personal message of congratulation to Michail Antonio after the brilliant Irons winger clinched a spot in the first squad named by England manager Sam Allardyce.

Michail’s magical moment has been shared by everybody associated with the club over the last couple of hours and David has now added his congratulations to the player he signed from Nottingham Forest for £7 million last summer.

Michail has been a revelation since arriving at the club  and his call-up has been universally applauded by Irons supporters across the land.

And now, speaking exclsuively to ClaretandHugh following today’s clash with Manchester City at the Etihad ,David sent Michail his warmest congratulations.

He said: ” I am very very pleased for him and send him my personal well done. I am particularly delighed because he’s one of the highest scoring wingers in the country.

“That’s why I bought him when nobody fancied him. I’m delighted for him.”

Congratulations michail antonio, his workrate , dedication and never say die attitude even when all the odds are stacked against him has earnt him this call up. How many players in this day and age go half a season not being able to get into the team but continue to work hard stay patient and when they get into the team they prove they deserve to stay there through their performances….in this age of prima donnas its almost unheard of…he deserves his chance because he has earnt it the hard way ….COYI

Despite some on here criticising me for banging on and on about how brilliant Antonio was/is and how completely regressive it was to play him at RB, my views are vindicated YET AGAIN!
Slav plays him as a Wing back this time instead of straight RB, and we go 2 down (not necessarily completely connected). But THEN at half time, Antonio is moved up to Wing (with Byram brought on), and within 13 mins he has scored….Same thing v Bournmouth: Not exactly rocket science is it? When are we just going to leave Antonio to get on with it on the R Wing? We want a 20 goal a season man? Well there he is…
When I look at his videos at Sheff Weds and Notts Forest, he should have been playing for England AGES ago…IMO he is without hesitation the finest player in the country….He is going to be a true WHU legend…..Wow are we lucky to have him; I just hope Slav doesn’t frustrate the hell out of him any more….
There was a bust up with Slav at Rush Green with Noble representing Antonio too….I was v worried Antonio was going to put in a transfer request….
I feel a lot happier now…Even losing to City etc; we can recover…but experimenting with playing Antonio out of position has to stop….
We are only 3 games in; we can turn it round….

Yeah youre right you banging on about him is boring. But maybe not quite as boring as you proclaiming your views to be vindicated yet again like some puppy looking for a pat on your head.

I’ve just heard Dougie Freeman on Talksport, who was his Manager at Nottingham Forest, he reckons Antonio’s best position is on the Left Wing cutting in on to his right foot.

I don’t know if it’s the Left or Right wing where he is best, but I definitely know it’s not at Right Back!

Playing him at Right Back is incredibly stupid, the lad’s asset is his athleticism and stamina, having him flogging up and down the wing is taking this asset away from him and driving him into the ground, seems pointless!

Bang on, MM! It’s true about Antonio playing on the L wing @ Forest, and he was incredibly successful there, which is why I had expected it to be fine for him on the L….but it hasn’t proved that way @ WHU.
Ditto Tore; whilst he mainly played on the L, he did play successfully on the R, but again, that hasn’t been the case at WHU; it seems pretty nailed on that Ant is best deployed on R, and Tore on L.
Ant on R also means he can whip balls in for Carroll etc (if Carroll doesn’t get injured again after he gets fit agian!)
