Hammer says operation went well

|

OpEdimilson Fernandes has undergone surgery on his ankle but he likely to miss the remainder of the season in rehab.

Fernandes wrote on Instagram: “Hello dear fans, I just had my operation and I will see you early on the pitch. The operation went well.  Thanks to everyone for your messages.”

Fernandes suffered an injury in September while on International duty with Switzerland U21’s. Rumours initially circulated that he had broken his foot and was rushed to hospital but that was later denied.

After medical scans, the club initially labelled the injury as a badly sprained ankle but he failed to rehabilitate and medical advice told the club that surgery was the most sensible course of action.

Fernandes has played four times since his injury in September including the recent 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, he was signed from Sion for a fee of £5.5million in August 2016.
