Hammers among world highest payers

|

tableWest Ham’s squad are among the best paid players in world football.

A new survey – published today – shows the Hammers holding 14th place in salaries paid with an average wage of £2.9 million.

This puts them behind the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs in the Premier League with only seven big hitting European giants in front of them.

The 2017 global sports salaries survey (GSSS) shows too that the PL wage has risen above £50,000 per week for the first time — a global first for any football league.

But while average yearly pay in the 2017-18 season in England’s top division is now £2,642,508 (or £50,817 per week), the world’s three best-paid clubs come from Spain and France.

Barcelona top football’s list, with average first-team pay of almost £6.6m a year with Paris St Germain second (£6.5m) and Real Madrid third on £6.2m.

Funny that all the teams in the top 20 barring us and Leicestershire are playing (” at the next level “) in European football??????

Well it shows that in terms of pay we are next level, we also qualified twice for Europa but thanks to our manager at the time we lost out on the league stages because the players were poorly coached and not fit enough. This season is most likely going to be a grind but I am cautiously optimistic that Moyes will get us there next season COYI !!!

Good old West Ham!! You have to hand it to us really. How to get the worst of all worlds. Pay some of the highest wages and STILL be rubbish. On a serious note it does again confirm that all is not well at the club. Bringing in players who do not deliver. Paying over the odds to get them to come. Come on Mr Sullivan – there are some messages here for you. We know you like to be involved but start delegating! The tv cameras will still switch on to you in your not-at-all-stupid hat a couple of times during the match.

isn’t the conclusion simply that paying loads of money in wages and possibly in transfer fees doesn’t really mean success. all those complaining about our ‘net spend’ figures are surely then missing the point. we do spend, but the players either aren’t good enough or aren’t being instructed well enough. given how things have transpired, it was the latter i think (and hope) and that gives decent hope for the future under mr moyes.

what has transpired that makes you think the latter,a draw at home to Leicester ? really just think this shows how badly the club is run we are covering paying for poor players

There is not a single WHU player worth $2.9M. Most people would walk over broken glass for 1/20th of that. Overpaid, out of touch with normal people. For this money they should be exciting fans in every minute.
