Hammers put bid on ice to watch youngsters

|

MawsonNew reports have emerged this morning that the Hammers are again ready to woo Swansea into accepting a £25 million bid for central defender Alfie Mawson.

The Sun – via veteran journalist Alan Nixon – claims the Hammers will make the same offer as it has been claimed they made previously and include Andre Ayew in the bid.

Swansea – the report says -want as much money for him as possible given er, that Barnsley will take a cut due to the deal they agreed when they brought Mawson to the Liberty Stadium in 2016.

However sources at West Ham have told ClaretandHugh this morning that whilst they like the player they are more interested in looking at Reece Oxford and  Reece Burke with Declan Rice having emerged as a near regular in the team.

We were told: “This is a difficult time to buy and we are focused on our own players and giving them a chance to prove themselves.”

This Alfie Mawson rubbish, apart from the fact he is nothing special, as if a relegation rival are going to sell a key player to a rival, I sometimes think DS finds a target he knows a club won’t sell just to keep us in the media during the transfer window without buying anyone of value…
