Hidden motive behind Irons Fifa move

|

fifa-logoWest Ham’s  thinking on possibly reporting Marseilles to Fifa on possible tapping up charges has little to do with getting the French club fined.

For there have been very few examples of that having happened down the years and when it has the punishment has been in the region of around a pathetic 50k.

No, the real purpose behind the move is far more likely to be about applying as much pressure as we can to see the affair settled a a sensible price.

Marseilles really do not need to be caught up in this sort of charge as it would eventually show them in a bad light were they to be found guilty.

Payet himself is under immense pressure and the Hammers are justifiably seriously unhappy that he and Marseilles seem intent on screwing them into not only selling, but doing also to the club of his choice, leaving them with zero options.

Thus, they appear to be ready to hit back by bringing the whole affair in front of Fifa which is likely to generate plenty of bad publicity for Marseilles.

In essence they are threatening moves which could be the double edged sword with which Marseilles are trying to use on them.

They are saying: “If you want Payet pay our price or suffer some unpleasant consequences”

It’s a decent idea. Will it work? Who knows but very much worth a try!

£30m think what we could do with that. Another left back from Cowdenbeath reserves- definitely one for the future. A Colombian striker(yes striker) with a 1 in 2 record in the Colombian under 16 League. Pele is quoted saying ‘yes he is ok’. And a few good loan deals. Can’t wait.

If Marseille aren’t prepared to pay the price, then I hope we dig our heels in. Personally, I’d be on the phone to Monaco asking about some of their younger players breaking through. We should be looking at Payet and thinking this is a guy that could open doors to players that might not normally be on our radar. With all the tv money going around a lot of clubs have cash but that doesn’t mean we can get top players. I’d be very happy with a straight swap for Thomas Lemar!

Monaco’s not that far from Marseille so Payet couldn’t be that serious about being with his family if he’s not prepared to go to Monaco. It would be a nice result – we get a younger player with bags of potential and skill, Marseille get sweet fa, Monaco get a top class player who would fit right in with their attacking play, Payet gets used as a bargaining chip for our benefit not his and he gets a two hour commute each way to test out the new ‘aerodynamics’ on his motor.

Good point Long Fella there are a lot of clubs that have wasted money, if you look at Utd and City’s record in the transfer market it is shocking, of those at Leicester I would take Slimani who we were linked with many times but we dodged a bullet on Musa he is superfast but in the way a headless chicken is fast. Hopefully this Hogan situation will resolve itself, reading between the lines it seems like the agent is presently the problem or more to the point Brentford are liable to pay Hogan some money if he doesn’t hand in a transfer request and they don’t want to pay him which seems a bit tight.

WHU32 there are many, many clubs who have a bad window.Players who sign for big money & only last a season after big big bucks moves. It aint just us that do but we obviously tend to only notice our signings.
Chelsea City Utd Liverpool many clubs have wasted fortunes on players. No one disagrees our summer could have been better but we are by no means alone in having a poor window sometimes.

Yes Mr Grumpy is back. Just a bit of Friday fun chaps. I would sell him essexclarets, although if there was some way we could sell him AND see him rot that would be perfect!. To be serious now, £30m would be a good profit on him. As to what the owners do with it, we do need a bit of repair work before the end of Jan, but don’t waste it. The long term replacement for you know who needs a lot of thought, so keep some for June/July.

Just to be clear- I think our owners are great. I love that we are not – yet- foreign owned. The Daves are rich men, but not ridiculously rich, and as far as I can see have put in a lot of their money. I do think their transfer strategy needs a bit of a look, and stopping the ‘Big news any day now’ stuff was a good step in right direction. Perhaps the next two weeks will amaze us all. I hope so.

A refreshing change to the way the Icelandic biscuit men caved in to Sheffield Utd’s pathetic attempts to extort money from the club in the past. That disaster was avoidable if we had manned up at the time and so is this one. Hats off to the Davids. The player has burned his bridges, we wouldn’t want to see him in a West Ham shirt again if he agreed to pay us and the only thing left is to off load him as poison, fast at the best possible price. We’ve allowed clubs like Liverpool to out manouver us with the conivence of players, like Yossi Benayoune in the past but no more. Far from perfect, but this is a different West Ham now, with management that manage. If Payet didn’t know that West Ham fans have long memories, he will soon.. ask Clive Thomas… or Keith Hacket… or Paul Ince… Shame on Payet and Marseille. No honour, no sportsmen, no Gentlemen. Shame on you.
