Leroy: ‘We’re moving up and it’s so exciting’

|

LEROY (1)I’m not the slightest bit worried about how the Irons get through on Thursday night …so long as they get through!

An awful lot was made of the fact that it was hard work at the Boleyn last week but when a team – however humble – decides to sit with nine behind the ball it’s always seriously tough particularly at such an early stage in pre-season.

But if anything, it should be easier in Malta because Birkirkara will be forced to come at us and that will open things up for the Irons.

Throw the likes of Dimitri Payet and Martin Samuelsen into the mix and I’ll be looking for a decent win although as I say, the manner of the performance isn’t important – getting through is all that matters.

PayetI like the business the owners are doing this summer. It looks to me as if they are trying to cover most positions with good players and I believe that the Hammers are moving to a different level.

Payet of course looks outstanding and young Samuelsen a terrific prospect. It takes time to build a squad but we are getting there and there will be real competition for places.

I do believe that we are seeing a club that is heading into the top eight developing and it’s all extremely exciting.

The owners have taken some stick down the years from some but I really believe these two guys are Hammers to their backbones and what’s happening at Upton Park is to be applauded.

We aren’t always good at it but let’s give credit where it’s due. The two Davids brought in the right man at the time in Sam Allardyce and I believe that in Slaven Bilic – with the resources they are making available – will take us on to the next level.

They were right to part company with Sam. He does what it says on the tin – keeps you up. In Slaven we will start playing some great football and move into the upper strata of the Premier League.

I’m convinced of it.

Im unconvinced.Think we still should have kept Sam because he will give us the stability needed in the last season before we move.We dont want to move into the OS as a Championship side 😀

The owners are great, Allardyce was great, Bilic will be great. Talk about towing the party line, Leroy!

I love the positive feel about the club at the moment. I can’t wait until season kicks off, and hopefully we will make group stages of Europa, I’ll look forward to that as well. Even loving all the preseason games, going to our next three as well. One thing getting to me though are all these negative people about talking **** saying we are going to struggle with amount of extra games. As if people have to put a dampener on things.

He said they brought in the right man at the time, got rid and he does what it says on the tin keeps us up not exactly a must see five star ringing endorsement

Even if we don’t have the fantastic season that many expect, it was certainly the right time to take a punt and move on from Sam. 4 years of consolidation is plenty and 4 years of dire football is more than enough. I’ll settle for 17th but hope/anticipate for much more.

I’ll settle for top 8, and a couple of good cup runs.
Everton spent most of last season in the bottom half, partly because of the Europa cup. The difference is we will have a better squad than they had.

Leroy was honest last year when plenty sat on the fence not wanting to kill the golden goose if Hippo stayed,
He is spot on this year,we are a couple of good signings from being a top 8 team,
If we can get the young Argie in this week,a good forward / winger and either Song or Diarra
We will set for a good season,
Why are people still banging on about Europe we will have played 4 games after thie week most of the real first team are yet to play and quite a few have not played 45 mins of friendlies
Come on lads let be a bit more positive

Well said Leroy. I hope you are right but even if we have a topsy turvy season but continue to improve and play good football I will be happy COYI !!

  • DJHammer says:

Not really fussed what division we play in tbh, as long as we try to play pass and move football out from the back and through the thirds to goal. Nuff said!
