Owl face defends his Noble rejection

|

Roy and the OwlOwl-faced England Manager, Roy Hodgson has given one of the most bizarre excuses on his continuing snub of Mark Noble during a pre-match press conference ahead of the Germany v England friendly.

“The fact is there are are always two or three players that are in the news that many people would like to be selected or are better than the players I have selected, that is the nature of my job,” Owl-face told the press.

I have said on many occasions that I refuse to close doors and I refuse to rule people out. Having said that, we have a lot of players who over the last two years have worked very hard to establish themselves as England players.

royThose who are on the outside, still looking to get in, have got to convince me I’m better off leaving out a player I have been working with to make space.

“We have only got 23 places, 20 outfield players, we can’t unfortunately cap every player who has had a good player for his club. Before the World Cup it was Grant Holt so there is always somebody.”

Noble seems to have accepted his fate with grace, speaking a few days ago after the squad announcement Nobes said: “If I’m honest with myself, the chances are very slim, once the squad got announced, I just put it to the back of my mind.”

Noble“There are some great players in that England squad and a lot of people, and West Ham fans thought I should have been in it but I’m not that sort of person. Obviously, over the last two months there has been so much talk about it and everyone I talk to asks me about it but I just took it in my stride – if it happened it happened and it would have been a nice problem to have. But it didn’t work that way and I can thoroughly look forward to Monday now.

“I’m English, I’ve always wanted to play for England but it’s out of my hands. I’ve loved playing this season, it’s been a great season for me personally and for the club. But there is nothing I can do about England, I’ll just put it to the back of my mind and enjoy Monday with my family and my friends, and have a real good laugh.”

We will pitch up in France with the usual collection of big club favourites (Henderson, Milner), players with media reputations (Walcott), injured and past it ‘superstars’ (Rooney) and some who haven’t even played for their clubs but are part of the Manager’s grand project (Wilshere). Then we will crash out at the group stage after some average team performances and the media will ask a) for the Manager’s resignation (or even better, sacking), and b) ‘where were the form players that set the League on fire? – Vardy, Drinkwater, Noble and Cresswell.

Sadly, despite a record number of U-21 caps, Noble looks to miss out again and the next World Cup really will be too late for him. Just like Billy Bonds before him, England will prefer to fail without him than give him a go.

    Sad but true.

England make early & ignominious exit from Euros, Hodgson walks, Nobes gets the call up under the next regime… what’s not to like?

What a crock how has anyone worked hard to establish themselves,Woy picks who he wants, how have Wellbeck and Sturridge worked hard they never play but Vardy is pushed to one side,
Henderson has been missing most of the season and when fit he stinks,
Milner and Llanna are the same, can’t even play regularly under a non skill manager who only wants super fit players that act like Robots,
Tell the truth Woy they are your personal favourites and nothing other then bad injury will stop you taking them to the Europeans

I like a lot of the guys on WHTID,seem like a good bunch if I’m honest but by Christ they do moan & talk a lot of crap sometimes.England & the players performances being a perfect example. It’s just illogical ranting for the sake of it.You have ex-pros who have played hundreds of games in the top flight & internationally saying how well they have played & you have some of those berks moaning about everything.Do they really think they no more than Wright,Dixon,Mattheus & Hoddle, lol.Leave it out.Sorry rant over.I was just boiling over.
3-2 now to England, fantastic, stick that in your pipes & smoke it moaners.

  • Radai Lama says:

    Lol,relax Gobby,take a deep breathe.Get in there,3-2,quality winning that from 2 down.Happy days.

  • Gobby says:

Fair enough Radai Lama.Come on though you have Lother Matthaus saying how good we were but you go on there & it was an hour or more of negativity & grumbling.I don’t get it myself.Just inane comments made with little knowledge from what I could see.
