Pardew trots out the predictable excuse

|

alan-pardew_2442206bAlan Pardew wasn’t slow to trot out his ready-made excuse after Andy Carroll buries his team and their hopes at the death.

The former Irons boss – moaning about the defeat – declared entirely predictably:  “The two day turnaround has cost us in the end and we ran out of legs and could not keep going. It was heart-breaking for the players. It is such a disappointment to concede a goal like that.

“We were better in the first half, but we conceded too much possession in the second half and the turnaround has done for us.

“We were unfortunate to lose Matty Phillips in the warm up. We had players hanging at the end. I tried to freshen things up, but it was difficult and they had more energy than us and it showed.”

I don’t suppose we shall be using the same expressions of discontent when we chase the Spuds all over Wembley in to nights time. 🙂

2 games in 3 days. These are professional footballers. They only run about 8 miles/game, 2 games in 48 hours should be easy for them. Ridiculous excuse.

We will be playing 3 in 6 days with the nxt 2 on the telly. The BBC looking for us to slip up on Sunday in the FA Cup

Leaving Pardew and his constant ‘kvetching’ aside, I am more worried about the comment made by Moyes a few days ago, re: sacrificing FA cup for EPL; for heaven’s sake ‘Jimmy’; the FA Cup is a big prize these days and a ticket into European play. If I was him, I’d just take each match on its merit. Surely we have the talent to beat Shrewsbury; win that, and start worrying when the draw for the 4th round comes out

Better we keep our powder dry as we might all be saying the exact same thing Thursday night. We looked knackered ourselves at times last night and that was with a week off!
