Thrilled David Moyes, speaking to BBC Match of the Day, was delighted to see the team come from behind for the first time at the London Stadium.
He said: “It was so important as it could have gone either way. The first half was not good, but the second half was much more like it. We got the reward for keeping at it.
“Our hopes are not to be in the relegation positions, but we are in there. I am told it is the first time the club has come from behind since we moved to the stadium.”
Of Andy Carroll’s performance he added: I don’t think any centre half would be able to deal with his jump and header.
The second goal was good play on the break and the ball was played across goal and Andy scores from a tight angle. If he hadn’t scored, I would have said he still played well tonight.”
thing is mr moyes, you’d have been wrong.
Moyes you are slowly undermining your good start. If you continue to start Carroll as a lone striker, not alone will we return to the bottom 3, you will not have a job – lets see how long it is before you realise this. I hope you realise it pretty soon.
That and realize that Rice actually brings something to the team. And that Oxford needs to be on the bench at least for the next game, and Ayew off. And that Kouyate doesn’t bring anything right now. He is the shadow of the player he used to be, And that Masuaku is more a creative midfielder than a wing back. All this is screaming evidence for anyone who understands a little bit of football and has been watching us lately.
Agree AC has been better in 2nd half this whole season & will be best used as Impact sub maybe start certain games the goals will help his confidence bit we need pace up front bc AC changes the way we play him & Lanzini don’t link well & he slows us down. Lanzini is good trhu the middle on the ground & counter.
Selling Sahko & Moyes seems to not like Chicharito didn’t get his ‘clean slate’ but he works well w Arnie up front & in that game he pulled players away from Arnie & AC to help get the last goal. Also has shown in his sub’s he can setup goals w Sahko & will work & run doesn’t have to just be in box. But if playomt 2 CFs why not him & Arnie.
But back to point if selling Sahko & Ayew we need another CF & Mark Uth from Hoffenhiem at 26 w 9 goals this season be a good about rounded striker some height but some pace & contract is up in summer so could get a good deal that is if Moyes will look outside PL experience & British players.
As for Rice I don’t know what else he has to do to get a start has shown he can play DM in back 4 on either side of back 3. And is a young English CB who is mobile & good on the ball great for a back 3 bc he can bring the ball out & get play moving fwd. Also has pace & doesn’t cost £40m.
Much rather play him then buy Mawson need Midfield first then maybe CF & maybe Fullback like Opare who can play RB or LB £5m.
3-5-2 w Rice to start if Cresswell is fin I’d out Rice in over Reid who has been in bad form & no pace. If not I’d pkay Rice on lefft again
Moyes also seems to favour Kouyate who as looked like he doesn’t care. I believe he think he can use him like Fellaini but he isn’t Fellaini.
I would of brought him of not Obiang yesterday but he seems to want to stick w him even when lethargic & always out of position. Obiang is great but when beside another decent mid Noble & even Rice he plays well. Better tackler & passer then Cheik.
His agent was putting his name put there so I wonder if he wants to leave. I would pkay Cullen over Kouyate he can actually pass well & hold onto the ball. But if we get in 2 mids I’d sell Cheik esp if wants to go
