Payet asked to repay loyalty bonus

|

PayetmiseryWest Ham want Dimitri Payet to repay a £1million loyalty bonus from the club before they rubber-stamp his departure to Marseille says Darren Lewis in the Daily Mirror.

Darren backs up ClaretandHugh story that the “initial deal for the playmaker has been agreed at £25m but will total around £30million with bonuses.”

Darren says: “The Hammers first want Payet – who has insisted his desire to leave is not about money – to prove as much by giving back the cash he was handed back in September. Should that happen he could to be presented as a Marseille player as quickly as tomorrow in France. The payment was made in October in a bid to appease Payet after he returned from his Euro2016 commitments with France unsettled and wanting to leave”

ClaretandHugh understand that the £1m bonus was in fact paid early in August before the September scheduled date on the request of the French man so he could settle historic tax affairs in France.

    Perfectly reasonable request.

If it’s not about the money, Payet, and you have taken £1m from us specifically to be loyal to us – we want it back.

Even though it wouldn’t surprise me if Marseilles reimburse him somehow, the admission that he has reneged on the loyalty deal by paying it back, would be enough for me.

If all the facts & figures are correct its difficult to complain about the deal we are getting.
£25-30 mill + add ons + 25% sell on clause.Ok maybe we could have sold him for £40+ mill in the summer but if the club had flogged him then we would have all gone nuts at the time 😁

Good , he’s Gone . And about time too . He will not be missed as some media outlets suggest . He was hindering us more than he was helping us .
Let’s get on with the season and put it behind us . Good riddance to bad rubbish .
Maybe now we will see the true West Ham without premedonas .

Disappointed we did cave in and sold below asking price, but it’s easy for us fans to say as it’s not our money. Sell on fee is very vital here as I cannot see Payet staying at a club for more than two years, so there will be more money, for us.
I suppose the board were willing to sacrifice some dosh in order to get the player out.
Let’s hope we spend the money wisely…COYI!

It had to be resolved sooner rather than later.I know we might well have wanted to see him festering with the u23s but it would have only given us short term gratification. For me this is the best solution to get him out of the club & take this circus out of the media as well.

Hopefully we have a substantial sell on clause they have got him at half price he should definitely pay back his lack of loyalty bonus.

To bloody right as well i have heard a rumor his wage at marseille will be 115k per week
If they slap a undisclosed fee bonus like e.g for goals scored ….. etc etc it could push him above what we pay.
It was never about the money
This was all about marseille tapping up payet and promising him they would match his wage one way or another if he forced a move through and dragged the transfer down.

I think that you have to be pretty simple to believe he will be going there for less readies. It will never officially come out i suspect but i would wager a decent bet on him getting similiar to what he got with us one way or another. This pay cut just to be back home doesnt cut much ice with me if im honest.Lets not forget his basic with us was only around 70 grand.
