West Ham’s “Giggsy” looks to impress

|

Nathan Holland on the run.

Nathan Holland will be aiming to complete a West Ham breakthrough that’s been regularly predicted over the next four weeks.

The youngster hits his 20th birthday on June 20 – the perfect time to make a real impact at the club where he has become an under 23 sensation.

Academy boss Terry Westley once described him as possibly being  ‘a new Ryan Giggs’ in the making so it’s no surprise that he should be included in the pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

Blessed with tremendous skill and talent he is one of three other highly skilled attacking youngsters included in the trip – Saed Haksabanovic and Martin Samuelsen being the others.

And it demonstrates the type of forward players manager Manuel Pellegrini particularly likes – pacy and with the ability to go past defenders.

Holland – whilst being tipped as “the next big thing” at the club can expect the young Swedish and Norwegian prospects to be pushing their claims in a big way.

The winger looked to be on a possible breakthrough just ahead of David Moyes’ arrival but suffered a bad injury and was sidelined until February when returning with an end of season under 23 flourish.

Along with those three, Reece Oxford – wearing big smiles as he left for the pre season camp – Josh Cullen and the highly impressive Marcus Browne will also be looking to impress ahead of the first friendly against FC Winterthur on Sunday.

Nathan Holland and Marcus Bowne, together with Haksabanovic and Samuelsen, are very exciting talents who may do very well under the tutelage of Pellegrini.

But who is Josh Holland? Never heard of him Hugh?
