World Cup at the London Stadium this weekend

|

The 2018 Athletics World Cup will be held at the London Stadium this Saturday and Sunday.

The competition format features all field and track events up to and including the 1500m will star the world’s eight leading athletics nations over those disciplines: USA, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Poland, China, Germany, France, Jamaica and South Africa. Each nation will be competing for a $2million prize pot over two evening sessions of athletics under the lights.

Organisers are expecting a capacity of 35,000 at this Athletics event.

Following the summer music concert season where the Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters and Beyonce hired the Stadium, the pitch and running track have now been uncovered with minimal movement of the East and West stands. The London Anniversary Muller Athletics games will be hosted next weekend 21 and 22 July.

London Stadium owners expect to be able to move back the seats to football mode within seven days of the athletics season finish.

How nice to read an article about the London stadium not full of negativity. I love the place personally. I enjoy the whole thing, the walk to the stadium, the pre match pint, the whole build up. Can’t wait for the season to start with all these decent new ballers.

If the pitch fits inside the running track and they want a Burgundy exterior that won’t get approved why not just leave the track as it is ?
