Video: Billy’s day – the key moments

|

It really was the days of days – an unforgettable landmark in the history of this great club and a very great man’s part within it.

For 27 years over 799 appearances the amazing Billy Bonds served West Ham United in ways which will never again be matched – at last that’s my view.

His gentle and humble character off the pitch is a world away from the man’s buccaneering ‘take no prisoners’ approach while he was on it.

Saturday afternoon saw the tears flow from Bill as the crowd gave him one of the most tumultous ovations in the club’s history as he cut the tape to open HIS stand.

It was an unforgettable 10 minutes or so which will live forever in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to witness a magnificent event.

It was a moment we have all waited for and the club has produced a magnificent video showing every moment of an event for which we will be forever proud.
