Niall hands out his marks

Randolph: Got a touch on the opener, no chance with the second – seemed to injure himself making a clearance but saw out the 90 mins 7
Coufal: Fantastic defending and driving runs, setting up the equaliser. Summed up by chasing Foden down and winning the ball from him in the 91st minute 9
Diop: Acquitted himself very well again; a misguided header at the death when faced with a chance for a point 8
Dawson: Seems to have added rangy, crossfield passes to his arsenal this week – immense again 9
Cresswell: Needed to be on his game with Johnson outside him today; good game 8
Johnson: Nervy start, conceding possession far too often but found his feet 8
Rice: Shielded the central defenders, carried the ball forwards, 100% concentration 9
Soucek: Some brilliantly timed challenges in the first-half 8
Fornals: Played really well for me. Covered a huge amount of ground, tough in the tackle and some good hold-up play 8
Lingard: Cruised around and looked entirely  comfortable against the opposition 8
Antonio: In the right place at the right time for the deserved equalizer; looks like he’s been playing up front all his career 8

Subs
Bowen: The ball wouldn’t go out of play, else Bowen and Benrhama would have been on 3 or 4 mins earlier. As it was, little chance to affect the outcome 5
Benrahma: As above. A few neat touches around the halfway line rather than in the attacking third 5

No way did I watch the same game if Johnson gets more than a 6 for effort. He lost possession lots in the first half and was bossed by Mahrez out wide.

Agree with most, think Fornals deserved a 9 today too. High work rate on and off the ball as usual, and some really smart quick-thinking plays. I also liked his body-check on Foden 🙂

I don’t know what you folks at C&H saw in Mikey today though. I thought he must have mistakenly pulled on a pair of Haller’s boots… Apart from his goal he was awfully lethargic. No pressing city backs when they were bringing the ball upfield, no running into space when opportunity came..
He even had the hide to have a go at Johnson for a pass that went wide of MA, but had he been awake and running he’d have run straight onto it, between 2 defenders and straight at Ederson. I give him 3 for his goal and 0 for his effort today.

Agree completely. Great team match, thought we were the better side.

  • Eug says:

How on earth can you give Johnson 8? He gave the ball away 8 times in the first half, alone.
That’s 8 attacks that came to an abrupt halt. You cant do that against any team let alone Man C. You could tell quite a few times that the other players, stopped passing to him, because they knew he had no confidence and they had to keep continuingly cut inside instead of going down the left flank. Benrahma should have been brought on a lot earlier. He can hold the ball, and also play off the other players, in particular Lingard. Johnson is still young and has a long way to go. If we are serious about Europe you cant carry players like that.
To give Johnson an 8, you really need to go to Spec Savers. I think you need to get real.

Bit generous there fella! All of your 8s, should be 7, Rice 8, Coufal, definatly a 9.
