McAvennie tells Bowen Liverpool would be a bad move

|

Hammers legend Frank McAvennie insists Jarrod Bowen just wouldn’t get into Liverpool’s team amid rumours linking him with a move to Anfield!

The winger has been in electric form this season and has scored six goals and laid on nine assists in 22 league games thus far this season.

That has led to plenty of reports linking Bowen with a potential move to Liverpool, as boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big admirer of the ex-Hull winger.

The Liverpool Echo has reported  the Reds are continuing to keep a close eye on Bowen’s development, scouting him thoroughly, with a view to a potential summer move.

But McAvennie insists that the Hammers star is incredibly unlikely to actually work his way into Klopp’s team if he does end up making the move to Anfield because of the presence of both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, the Irons legend said:  “You can understand why Liverpool want him but then Bowen could say, ‘when am I going to play?’.

When those two come back – Salah and Mane – and then you’ve got [Diogo] Jota and [Curtis] Jones, there are decent players.

I don’t know if he would be ready to walk into the Liverpool team.

“He possibly would now while a couple are away. But he seems to be enjoying it anyway at West Ham.”

Let’s hope that we never have to find out because Bowen opts to stay with the Hammers!
