Carroll will cost Irons between £40-£45m

|

Andy Carroll will have cost West Ham United between £40-£45 million should he complete his six year contract at the club.

The Hammers never officially disclosed his fee it emerged that the speculated £15 million was in fact £16.5 million.

But according to The Telegraph the total figure to acquire Carroll is actually £17.5 million because West Ham had to pay Liverpool an extra £1m bonus on avoiding relegation last season.

And the Telegraph report concludes that given  Carroll signed a six-year deal at West Ham and earns £90,000 a week, the overall cost of the package for the England international has risen to more than £45 million.

ClaretandHugh believes the figure is actually closer to £40 million as according to our sources Carroll’s wages are in fact £80k a week rather than £90k

Good goal today by Carroll. But still do not feel his work rate is sufficient to quantify this type of cash outlay, again today we just didn’t flow like we did without Carroll & Nolan, but other than Cole could have replaced AC when he had run out of steam?
