Scamacca misery

|

Gianluca Scamacca had a very poor night at Cambridge United and his inability to find the net from simple positions became a worrying feature of the friendly game against a League One outfit just above the relegation places.

The Italian came on for the second half in a move which saw Michail Antonio move to the wing and went on to miss three glorious chances as the Hammer strolled to their 4-2 win.

As a sidebar to that it’s worth mentioning that this may have been a great opportunity to play the two alongside each other but Moyes persisted with his usual tactic of playing one up – a scenario to which the No 7 is unused having had a partner at Sassuolo,

Last night however he had no excuses for the lack of chances provided but after going clear in the 55th minute shot straight at the keeper from close range – a poor result.

Then in the 79th minute he somehow managed to screw a simple chance wide before missing another from a similar position three minutes from the end.

In between times he tried a shot which ballooned over the bar from about 20 yards to complete a miserable night for him against a less than average team.

It wasn’t a night for our senior strikers was it !
as Antonio hardly covered himself in glory either.

Tge reason Scsmacca has not been scoring has alot to do with moyes negative team selections. If you are playing in a team with 3 holding midfielders behind you even messi wont score. This is a prime example of the simple fact that he is not getting the best out of his squad. Everyone I speak to agrees that a Rice, Paqueta and Fornals midfield is how we will get the best out of our forwards but we will never see this under Moyes. It is incredible to think he has not been sacked. I read a report he wud love to buy another striker. Another striker is not the answer, the answer is quite clear Moyes has to go. The club should not give him anymore money this window as money wont solve this- over to the owners to do the right thing by the fans and players.

One additional comment to previous post.. moyes approved all the signings in the summer. He wanted players to fit into his system so he bought these players. Unfortunately he has got this badly wrong that the players he has signed are more suited to an attacking system of play. But he refuses to change. He has failed miserably to change a system to suit the players he fas signed, he has failed to get the best performances from them and he has failed to improve them. The fans want him gone now. So why on earth would the board give him any more money in the window when he is the problem. The only reason we should sign a player is it’s a free, or of we gave a crisis at CB. The player I wud sign is milenkovic from Fiorentina, a player we should fave signed another poor decision by Moyes.
