Report: Allardyce eyeing Irons defender

|
James-Tomkins_3236381Sam Allardyce is tonight being reported as being ready  to launch a January bid for James Tomkins.

The former Hammers boss  has been guaranteed a sizeable transfer kitty by Stadium of Light chairman Ellis Short and sees the defence as his first priority.

Tomkins, 26, fits the bill according to the Daily Star who suggest that a fee of around £10 million could clinch a deal despite the player signing a five year contract back in February.

Allardyce is also expected to move in on out of contract former Hammers captain Kevin Nolan and  Morgan Amalfitano, 30 – whose Hammers’ contract was cancelled this week by mutual consent after a bust-up with boss Slaven Bilic – could also interest him.

Meanwhile, ex-Sunderland, Newcastle and West Ham striker ‘Pop’ Robson has backed Allardyce to rescue the Wearsiders from the threat of relegation.

Robson, who played in the same Sunderland side as Allardyce in the 1980/81 season, said: “If anyone can keep Sunderland in the Premier League, Big Sam can.”

I was saddened to hear Sam allardyce was the new Sunderland boss. Mainly because I knew it would be the start of a media obsession between them and us, similar to the Newcastle palace obsession because of Alan pardew. Talking of pardew, all we need now is for Avram grant to become the new manager of Newcastle.

Tonks signed a new long term deal not long ago.

Jog on Fatty.. Why would he leave us now ? We are going places the only place Sunderland are going is the championship 🙂 🙂

  • bubs says:

If he makes the mistake of signing any of his ex out of contract players he will put £120 million on there wage bill and get the results of the end of last year,
But good news for Newcastle,Bournemouth,Watford and Villa,
Only 2 more places for relegation, can’t wait for the excuses,Fatigue,to many games, etc, etc
We are never going to get this Hippo off our back
