The Hammers boss is known to be in the market for a central deender but Smalling – Manchester United’s England man? Hmm.
Following the game he said: “Smalling’s great on the ball, can pass well, is very vocal, a leader, great in the air, very quick – blimey anything else? –
“Three years ago he was a bit shaky. Maybe he’s not as attractive as John Stones but he is good on the ball, passes wel, diagonal passes. He’s one of the best in England.”
