Irons cool it on City target

|
Micah-Richards_4Speculation that West Ham are set to launch a bid for Manchester City and former England defender Micah Richards was tonight described as “optimistic and imaginative at best.”
Richards has been regularly linked with the Hammers for several months, along with Arsenal.
But ClaretandHugh has just been told:  “He’s just one of many on the radar. It’s probably a five per cent shout.”
Boss Sam Allardyce produces his list of players to the board every close season.
And with the pressure on to provide a more adventurous style of football Richards’ strength and speed makes him an attractive option.
But it’s clear that with agents and managers away at the World Cup and the season starting later this year, there’s less urgency in these early transfer moves.
Our source said “We are like most clubs – looking for top value at the right price but with the World Cup coming up there’s not likely to be any serious activity.”
