Zarate can prove a point

|

ZarateMauro Zarate’s progress at Upton Park is set to become one of the fascinating scenarios of the new season.

Zarate is the type of striker rarely used by manager Sam Allardyce but at a time when much is being made of the ‘wage pot’ his three three year deal on £40k a week suggests he’s a major first team investment.

And one club source told ClaretandHugh:”He’s a a top top player who can do stuff you wouldn’t even imagine. He will get the fans out of their seats, I promise you.

“He is desperate to succeed and will receive a full pre-season so there can be no thoughts of him not having his fitness levels up – something we heard a lot of last year.”

However,  fears remain in some areas of the club that he will be used sparingly by manager Sam Allardyce who has no track record of consequence for using players of this type.

However, our source said: “It would be wrong of people to make a judgement of that nature at this stage.

“Sam Allardyce has a preferred way of playing like most managers but he knows a top player when he sees one and Zarate is certainly that.

“The club would never have made such an investment were this guy not the real deal. He can score us eight or ten goals a season – he a great buy.”

8 or 10 goals a season ? Is he another Carlton Cole … I was hoping for 15 or 20 goals a season

How knowledgable is this source? 8 – 10 goals? I too am expecting more than that. As for “track record of consequence”……..Youri Djorkaeff, Jay-Jay Okocha & Nicolas Anelka weren’t really players of ability or international significance?
Trying too hard to paint a negative picture isn’t really necessary.

    • Nobody’s trying too hard to paint a negative picture but you are going a long way back to try to prove your point – Maynard, Baldock, one up for last two season Hmm.

Didn’t realise this was an anti BS site, but I’ll admit the state of the game was a little different back then and the availability of quality players willing to try their hand in the premiership was plentiful.
BUT……and its a BIG BUT, to get those same quality of players these days requires FUNDS, maybe funds we haven’t got.
Maynard & Baldock prove MY point!

8 to 10 goals hardly prolific is it. We get that many goals from Kevin Nolan from midfield. Allardyce has gone on record saying he has been looking for a Suarez type of striker who can play in an around the front man or as an attacking winger for some time but they are hard to come by. Hopefully zarate could be that man

if his pre-season goes well, he must start every game with Carroll. Otherwise why on earth would the club invest that much wage commitment?
Pie in the sky I know, but I’d love to see Zarate and Morrison in the same side.
