Old Trafford fixture subject to change

|

Old-Trafford-Stadium-Manchester-UnitedWest Ham have been selected to play Manchester United on Saturday 12th August as their first game of the 2017/2018  Premier League season but fans should probably not book non-flexible train or plane tickets such yet or book non-refundable hotel rooms.

Sky and BT are unlikely to announce which games will re-schedule until the beginning of July so fans will need to wait a further two weeks to be sure it will be played on a Saturday afternoon.

Sky Sports say: “We expect to bring you details of the first batch of Premier League fixtures – those to be shown live on Sky Sports in August and September – at the beginning of July.”

The Premier League have always said they aim to give supporters six weeks’ notice ahead of any fixture changes.

Manchester United remain the most popular of picks from the TV companies and the Red Devils had 31 games shown LIVE on UK TV last season netting them £32.3m, by contrast, West Ham had 15 games shown LIVE earning them £18.2m in facility payments.

This clash will be a very desirable fixture for the TV companies first picks and I would be more surprised if the fixture doesn’t move.  Last season the same Premier League fixture was moved to Sunday 27th November but was not shown live on TV.

can they actually do that? I don’t remember them ever changing any games on the first day of the season or the last

  • They don’t move the last day of the season so no-one knows results in advance but they do the first day of the season every year. Our Chelsea away game was moved to the Monday last season. Hull v Leicester was played at 12.30pm on the Saturday

Bournemouth v Manchester Utd and Arsenal v Liverpool were played on Sunday

And it will only get worse when the Yanks finally realize Thier dream of owning the Premiership . I have been saying it for years , ever since TV got so involved in the Game of Football that we all so enjoy and love . Manchester United are forever on TV and Thier financial muscle is stark proof of that . Financial fair play is a myth , only invented to prevent bigger clubs from being caught up . If it wasn’t for the Proffesional Football clubs donating to Manchester United following that awful day , then man Utd would be just another ordinary club scrapping it out with the rest . But you will never hear a United fan admit to it .
Not sour grapes ; just reality . We all talk about how the rich clubs buy Thier success but , Man Utd gave Been doing it for as long as I have been old enough to attend games unaccompanied by an Adult ., always buying up young talent from other , poorer clubs .
English football has been playing catch-up to Man Utd ever since . At least Liverpool climbed due to Thier own merit , same can’t be said for Man Utd .
As a Football Fan , regardless of borders and tribes , I dislike Man Utd more than any other club in the U.K. .
