Adrian v Randolph – your view

|

Slaven Bilic has made it clear that Adrian remains his No 1 goalkeeper.

He reasons that the Spaniard has bailed us out many times in the past and tht it is unfair to judge keepers on one error.

Here’s hw ClaretandHugh’s Facebook forum members @https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/  responded to the manager’s view.

adrian12O Good to cheer Adrian up, but not so good for Randolph to hear. We have to games away vs Mancs. They will field strongest possible lineup in both games. So it will be fair to judge our keepers based on performances in 3 days time vs same team. Unique opportunity.
OAdrian will start in the league game at Man Utd and Randolph in the EFL game
O Fair enough, still think Randolph should be given the start though.
O That sums Bilic up, Adrian been very poor, Randolph has been excellent.
OAnd this deflects away from the real issues: we set up to play one way. The players are not adapting or coping when everything ain’t tickety boo. No one creates space in the final third.
O But in tight games like Saturday’s a single error can cost you the points, and Adrian’s was a huge error. if we were 6-0 up no one mentions it, but after just taking the lead against a rival down the bottom it turns the game, or at best slows our momentum.
OSlaven’s loyalty to his players is admirable.  But although Saturday’s error was one mistake, it’s not the ONLY one in recent games that has proved costly. There were other moments against Stoke where Adrian flapped and hesitated.
O I agree with Bilic on this one.
OAdrian is a better keeper than Randolph and keepers don’t just get dropped if they have howlers, rarely does a manager do that. Yes Adrian has made howlers, but all round a decent keeper. Randolph looks good because he does not play much
O I think that is a great statement by Bilic. Don’t destroy a player, publicly stick up for them. What he says in the dressing room might be different.

Why wouldn’t you give Randolf a go unless you suffer from the same disorder our previous manager had?? In my opinion Adrian has brain fades at times and the error against Stoke was one that cost us dearly. With Randolf it’s “safety first” and Adrian forgets that at times.IMHO.
