Allardyce: “A point maybe we didn’t deserve”

|

Sam-allardyce-523256Sam Allardyce has admitted the Irons hardly deserved their point from Stoke yesterday.

But he can see the plus points even in such a situation declaring it a sign of the character his team has developed this season.

He said: “We were struggling but then we showed some character. Teams who stay in the top half take something from games even when they aren’t playing well.

It is a sign of our character that we are going home with a point when we perhaps didn’t deserve it.”

Stoke boss Mark Hughes spent the press conference whinging about what he called a studs up challenge by Alex Song which preceded Stewart Downing breaking away and sparking the comeback.

He said: “It was a poor challenge by Song because he was out of control with both feet off the ground. Referees were told to stamp out those sort of challenges but he (Chris Foy) did nothing about it.”
