Allardyce: “All bosses have Boleyn fan problems”

|

waving sam_allardyce_1528056cSam Allardyce was always going to return to the last days of his Upton Park reign and of course it#s happened!

Allardyce – with a book on the way – has been talking to the Sunday People and seems keen to dismiss the idea that the trouble he encountered with the Irons fans was a “Sam Allardyce/West Ham” thing.

He said: “There were difficulties and differences of opinion with the fans, but like every manager at West Ham, they have difficulty with the fans at some stage and that’s acceptable.

“You know that before you take the job. It’s not a Sam Allardyce thing with West Ham fans. But because you are the manager, people make it a Sam Allardyce thing.

“But you don’t take the job if you don’t know that’s going to happen.

“Do people think I’m so naive at this stage of my life that I didn’t speak to everyone I could about West Ham? Of course I did – I haven’t been that naive for a long, long time so I knew what to expect from some fans.

“But I enjoyed my time there: Everything we achieved, the challenge, living in London, it was a great time and experience for my family.”

And speaking of the owners he says:  “The split was the right time for both of us. I was ready to go and had decided I would and they wanted a change, too. But perhaps we both could have both done it better.

“They weren’t letting the cat out of the bag, but neither was I. I knew they were speaking to people behind my back. I am a manager of many years experience and I knew that was happening. It’s not good, but it happens everywhere so you just have to leave it at that.

“I had four great years at West Ham. People will always refer to the difficulties at certain times, but you get those everywhere. The satisfaction for me is that when you leave somewhere you look at what you are leaving and I know I left West Ham in great shape.”

The D!ckhead should keep his north shut. He’s history. Pay me a few mill and you can call me what you like. Byebye fatty.
By the way, since when was the Sunday People a newspaper? We can all afford toilet rolls nowadays.

  • WestGoaHam says:

Just realised that I read the headline wrong. Should be “All fans have Allardyce problems.”

  • Hammerman6 says:

Slightly ‘hippo’ critical after having said we could struggle this season, then to say he left us in good shape. Obviously Slaven’s signings were not needed, and we should have kept last years squad.
For a man of your age Sam, you should really know better, and after seeing how the fan’s have taken to your replacement, just keep it shut and your head down!

  • Radai Lama says:

Who cares what Hippohead thinks. He is old news.Sammy fans can buy his autobiography & sit on the toilet reading it.Nice xmas present for the sad lads amongst the Irons fans 😉

  • Dainon says:

    Jog on Fatty

  • bubs says:

The fans never had a problem with Greenwood,Lylal,Bonds,Rednapp,
Hippo, caused the problems because of his disrespectful approach,
Grant was rubbish,Curbishley and Pardew ran out of time with bad financial problems,
He talks so much poo put your hand to your ear now,
The best thing I read today is that he has said he may never manage again,
That to all true football fans everywhere is great news,
Now can he go away for ever before he tells us he built this side and are playing style was his idea,

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Might be just me but I don’t find his words that offensive, he is deluded if he thinks that he didn’t antagonise most of us fans, he did, he is also deluded if he thinks that all West Ham managers had significant issues with the fans, in general as long as they were playing football not the overly negative survival football that has been successful for him personally the fans are happy. He should though be proud of what he achieved, he was 100% successful in delivering stability to our club and he did leave it with a lot of good players improving some as he went, I am thankful to him for that but like everyone else knew that he couldn’t take us any further as demonstrated when he had the opportunity last season. To progress we needed someone that understands the game is a mixture of attack and defence and that you can play winning football and be entertaining at the same time, we have that now in Slav ! Good luck Sam in the future now please stop being deluded and if you are as forward thinking as you have always suggested perhaps look at what has been successful since you left, especially in the relationship between our manager and us fans (bringing back the West Ham way).

  • WestGoaHam says:

Sorry mate, go home. He was garbage. Might have kept us up but had no idea how to go any where. Nothing fresh and no ambition for the club. Better off when he is retired.

  • Alan the 'appy 'ammer says:

Old news is the dinosaur.Dont take a blind bit of notice of what he says. There are still Sammy fans about though, you can find them on Wetpants.Anyone says anything about Fatty & they straight away defend him.One in particular, though i think he just likes being antagonistic 😉

Would love to see the whole of Upton Park or our away support celebrate another giant killing with ear cupping gestures just to return the gesture. For me it was that one action which told me so much about him and his non existant allegiance to West Ham fans, he really should button it and eat his humble pie along with the pundits who questioned our decision to rid ourselves of him and to be careful what we wished for.

  • The Boleyn Badger says:

Really makes me smirk now when i think of Keowns daft comment about the board putting out an SOS for Hippohead if things dont work out with Super Slav.Keown, what a total w#nker 😉

  • bubs says:

All the Pundit half wits have gone to the bunkers this week,
Let’s hope they have us down as a defeat in the cup to,
We need to go to Leicester with no fear just because they beat us,
We are a better side than them and will have to put a team effort in again to prove it
