Allardyce: “Our Achilles heel”

|

sad samBitterly disappointed Sam Allardyce cut a forlorn figure after the Irons had been caught in the dying seconds.

And it was hard not to feel sorry for the manager as the team trooped off at the end devastated by the late leveller

He said: “I thought we were going to see the game through nicely but we made a huge mistake at the end. Whether it’s a soft penalty or it isn’t, it is something we shouldn’t have done.

“It’s a real disappointment but it was a magnificent performance. The reason we lost the game was a bit of luck for them.

“We should have done enough at 2-0 up to see it out. That’s been our Achilles heel since the turn of the year. We were in front against West Brom and drew 1-1, we were in front against Manchester United and drew 1-1, and we were in front at Swansea and drew 1-1.

“I’m not blaming Harry Kane for going down in the box – we should do more of that. We’re an honest team and we’ve only got one penalty this season. We’re not getting rewards for our honesty.”

We were playing vey well like the first two months of this season. The squad was that of the beginning of the season with Nolan on the bench and Carroll out. BFS took off Noble so to avoid his second yellow card, but why, why those substitutions?! Cole and then Jarvis for Valencia (which was one of the best). From that moment on the game has completely changed. I give up, I look forward to the end of this season, I never want to see his fat face again!

Relax matte. The David’s know Allardyce is a liability in the Premier League for our club wanting to improve.I read Allardyce has said Nene will be there for the next game against Crystal Palace.Probably on the bench even if Cole is injured. Why didn’t he play the diamond last night? This will be Allardyce’s legacy. why why why???

Not fatigue, not to adventurous,it’s Bad luck,
    Not bad substitutions ?
Another week in BFS,s life another excuse.

As I said last week, we need 5 more quality players so we can back up the first choice players when they need replacing. Before this game I looked at the subs bench and their’s was twice as good as ours.
It’s very nice to slag off Nolan, but who else can replace Noble 1 for 1. I suspect Sam was protecting his buddy from more needless abuse, when he brought on Cole instead. For that we lost some shape for the last 20 minutes. I suspect plenty of people are celebrating that Nolan didn’t come on, and then dreaming up a new reason why we lost.

Another match where he substitutes Enner Valencia and we lose two points, madness is repeating the same actions and expecting a different outcome. We have drawn 7 games we should have won if he hadn’t been negative, we have only drawn one game we should have lost that was against Stoke at a push two if you include the Southampton draw. The spuds have gained 16 points from losing postions, I think its clear why they are where they are and we are where we are.

Having said all that don’t want to detract from the fact that we are punching well above our weight only Southampton are doing better than us out of the teams with similar budgets, all these teams above us, have huge budgets due to sustained European football. I would agree with sleepswithdafishes that we are several players short but most notably we need a true playmaker in the Erikson, Cazorla, Silva mode someone that can unlock the defence with a key pass and I wish Teddy would show Valencia some videos of Craig Bellamy he is already a nuisance to defenders if he learn’t how to play off their shoulders he would be trully terrifying that would involve him sitting higher up the pitch though some of the great defensive work he does would be compromised as the pay off but on the plus side he should score more goals and earn us more penalties.

  • sleepswithdafishes says:

Yes he needs to learn more how to frighten defences with his pace. Sam says we should win more penalties and Valencia is the man to do it. He needs to turn into the area more with the ball.

  • sleepswithdafishes says:

    by the way :
    on the bench was
    Nolan almost 33
    Demel 33
    Cole 31
    Ginge 31
    Jussy 125
Apart from Ginge and Jussy, we need a few changes

Also four of that five our still from our Championship team.Shows we havnt really moved on alot with regards to the squad overall. Also OBrien was there, just hanging onto his twenties.Another from the championship team.

  • sleepswithdafishes says:

I don’t know how much we have to spend this summer but if it’s the same as last summer it could be enough to shoot us up another level next season. ( top 5? )
Last season 33 million was a club record. Would be nice to break it.
A subs bench with 7 premiere players on it would also be nice.

  • rugbyirons says:

Nolan was clearly on the bench with no intention of playing.he was the noble substitute but never even flinched.I would like to know if he even warmed up before the game!! This is Allardyce abusing his position again. A fit youngster is better than Nolan if he isn’t fit.
