Morgan Amalfitano looks likely to be the man called in to replace injured Cheihou Kouyate against Manchester United tomorrow.
And a repeat of the brilliant goal he scored at Old Trafford last season would be very much case of just what the doctor ordered.
ClaretandHugh understands that both he and Mauro Zarate are set for inclusion in the squad and that manager Sam Allardyce will probably go for a player more akin to Kouyate in style within the diamond formation .
The only other decision facing the manager is whether to go with Cartl Jenkinson in the right back position or stick with Guy Demel.
A source told ClaretandHugh: “Both decision are very much 50-50 calls but Morgan did absolutely nothing wrong – looked very composed when he came on last week and scored a goal. It looks likely he’ll get the call.
“There’s real competition for the right back spot as Demel has been impressive and it’s possible that Sam will sway towards him as a result.”
