Our amazing Hammers under 21s keep on winning and last night booked their place in the last 32 of of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy – formerly EFL Trophy – as Group H winners! The Hammers – 3-0 up at half time ran out 4-0 winners with two goals from Ollie Scarles before Divin Divin Mubama struck just a minute later. The third came from George Earthy’s deflected shot and the unstoppable Callum Marshall added his 18th goal of the season ten minutes from time
It meant that across the three group games the Hammers had scored right goals with some truly magnificent efforts among them. As for Scott Marshall what can one say – the goals just pour out of the kid including his against Bristol Rovers along with Gideon Kodua’s strike against Newport County. The Irons had produced a fabulous comeback against Rovers, beating the EFL League One outfit Rovers 3-1 in the EFL Trophy which had made it six successive wins in all competitions. An equally fought game against Newsport had seen Gideon Kodua score the winner before the game at Cheltenham.
I am sure that when Steidten and Sullivan appoint the new manager for next season he will be someone accustomed to bringing through, and integrating, young players into the first team, as this is a golden generation of Academy players, not forgetting those such as Freddie Potts, who are out on loan.
