Ancelotti Goodison talks may open way for Irons

|

West Ham’s near zero hopes of attracting Carlo Ancelotti to the London Stadium appear to have hit rock bottom with news that the Italian is on his way for talks with Everton today (Fri).

The Hammers had shown an obvious interest in the former Chelsea boss when he was sacked by Napoli earlier this week with the 60 year old becoming a very tentative name on the wanted list.

However, should the deal be clinched it may well open the way for David Moyes to again become the leading contender for the Irons should the club sack Manuel Pellegrini.

According to reports this morning Ancelotti is due to sit down with Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright today.

Arsenal are reported to have spoken to the Italian’s lawyer but are not in a position to arrange a meeting with the 60-year-old about taking over from Unai Emery.

Meanwhile the Hammers are waiting until the Southampton game to decide the fate of Manuel Pellegrini.

If we bring Moyes in even as temporary then the board need to go. Shocking to even consider him or Hughton. Even ‘Arry would do better until the summer when we get Howe.

Can’t understand why we’re waiting until after Southampton game !
So, if we avoid defeat all of a sudden Pellegrini knows what he’s doing ? Utter garbage – such a crap run club.

Kenny. The reason they are dithering over the inevitable is the usual with our Board.Money.Pellegrini would have gone by now but they are too tight to pay him off.The poor ,deluded bloke said yesterday he has their full backing as we spiral uncontrollably towards the basement. So it’s down to money as usual as they continue to line their pockets dreaming of some Christmas miracle that is going to happen under Pellegrini.

        • It’s not about money – it’s about finding a replacement. Howe won’t leave Bournemouthcos he is leaving a club he loves in trouble and there are only so many managers available

Not saying we should Peter but I thought Moyes steadied the ship without ever having any money to spend (unless you include Huggill) who bearing in mind he never played probably wasn’t his choice.

Definitely wouldn’t be my first choice but in a temporary role I personally wouldn’t be averse to him coming back.

      • There was money available but I recall him reading he didn’t think Deondocker was the right fit – he also refused to go for Tom Cairney and eventually bought Hugill.

Moyes is a great manager, if he is given a chance! He produced great results at Everton, considering he had a net spend of £2.85 million a year over his tenure. You need to look at things intelligently and take everything into consideration, especially the team and resources at a manager’s disposal. A manager also needs to be given time, which none are given these days to be fair!

‘Shocking’? One of the few managers at the club in recent years to do exactly what was asked of him. Took over a ramshackle squad & was not given much financial help in the January Window. We stayed up. It was a struggle but I think it would have been for anybody. Whether he could it again- or would want try- I have no idea. It’s impossible to prove one way or the other, but I think with the financial backing Pellegrini was given Moyes would have had two seasons of progress. I agree it would not have set the PL alight, but that would have been ok by me.

Somebody-Hugh I think- put an article on here this week arguing that Hammers fans probably need to lower their expectations in view of the owners’ financial limits (or reluctance to spend their fast fortunes according to some fans!) That applies to who we can realistically expect to get as manager.

  • Steve says:

Sack the board if they rehire Moyes. Absolute charlatans that never learn from their mistakes.

  • Eastendexile says:

Part of the problem is that all of these big name managers only do well when they have licence to spend barrowloads of cash.
How well would Mourinho/ Guardiola et al do ‘managing’ a team on realistic availability of money as per the majority of the PL ? It is fanciful to think that getting in say Carlotta that they would immediately change things. These guys’ solution is alway to spend big and we are not in a position to spend oblige regardless of what some people think

Come on people or those that knock Moyes? With his team of Billy Mckinlay, Alan Irvine, and Stuart Pearce made West Ham fitter, faster and more efficient and passionate, which in the end saved us from relegation, and hard to beat? Some of our latest signings could use that steel and passion that Moyes’s team used in that short time they were at West Ham? Anderson needs to toughen up as does Yarmolenco and track back? Moyes’s team would not do tippy tappy football as Pellegrini’s style I agree, but their work rate would have to improve under someone like a Moyes’s team? And at least make a tackle if they lost the ball and show a bit of fight which has been missing over quite a few games lately? I’ll always remember Pearce kicking the ball away from the side lines when a decision went wrong for the Hammers as a coach next to Moyes? You can’t bottle that attitude but if you can ? It Is exactly what the Hammers need in the next few games put up a fight all eleven players not just a few??

Steve, tell me , who is going to sack the board? They own the club. The only people who can sack the board are the board themselves. They didn’t make a mistake hiring Moyes. He did what was asked and kept us in the Premier league, which was definitely looking iffy before he arrived. There are some who think that their only mistake with Moyes was sacking him.

  • Hammer64 says:

    Agree with that.
