Michail Antonio has taken a leaf out of Alan Pardew’s book by warning defenders to give no free kicks away around their box given the ‘Payet Factor.’
The French international has found the net five times in ten games from set pieces and at the weekend against the south Londoners found the top corner despite a seven man wall.
Pardew had warned what might happen ahead of the game – now Antonio has endorsed and confrmed the trouble that could lie ahead for defenders who don’t have their listening ears on.
It was precisely the same manager as the Palace boss gave his own players before the weekend – it fell on deaf ‘uns.
Antonio told the club’s future opponents: “I’d say that he just saves them for games – that kind of thing! You can see in the games that he has got it in the bag all the time.
“He did it away with France against Russia and he did it again on Saturday, so it’s just one of those things that you can’t give us free-kicks because he will punish you!”
West Ham face Arsenal on Saturday and then Manchester United in an FA Cup quarter-final replay at Upton Park .
