Antonio’s vow

|

Michail Antonio is ready for his return to Forest for the first time since he left the club back in 2015 as West Ham become the first Premier League club to visit the City Ground in over 20 years.

He was signed on deadline day for around £7 million and  has become a Hammers hero over the past seven years as he has performed well in a number of positions  for the club.

He will be facing a Steve Cooper side, including presumably Jesse Lingard, who was expected by many to make his way back to the London Stadium this season.

He has every right to feel huge respect for the club where he spent a season scoring 16 goals in 50 games following a move from Sheffield Wednesday.

And whilst the number nine is thrilled to be returning to the city where he was so successful before his move there will be no celebrations should he manage his third goal in four games for the Irons

He vowed: “No, I’d never do that [celebrate],” he told Sky Sports.

“I have too much respect the club, I have too much respect for the fans to do that.

“Obviously I’m going to go out there and do my job but I’d never celebrate because the time I had there, I really loved it and Forest is close to my heart.”
