Arthur Masuaku may be called on to give the Hammers an option on Thursday evening if Aaron Cresswell is unavailable for the game against Sevilla
Arthur is far from everybody’s cup of tea of course but on his day in the left wing back role he can create problems.
And whilst we don’t expect him to start, his re-emergence late on in the Villa match suggested he may – indeed has to be – in the manager’s mind given the possible injuries we face.
Should Cress not play, the left back job will presumably fall to Ben Johnson who – with Arthur in front of him – will get some sort of cover at the back whilst the DR Congo man attempts to create issues getting forward should he be called into the action.
He probably isn’t anybody’s choice to start but he can offer a bit and will be up for making an impression after another long lay off.
I really hope you are wrong. His contributions are generally: switching off at vital moments, giving away free kicks in dangerous positions, dashing up the wing and giving the ball to an opponent, and worst of all showing no discipline as far as Moyes organization is concerned. Moyes knows best, but I hope he does not inflict this on Johnson and the rest of the defence. I trust in Moyes to find a more creative solution!
