Ashby nearing return

|

Harrison Ashby made his return to action with West Ham’s Under-21s over the weekend.

The right-back has been dealing with an groin injury that he sustained in the Europa Conference League Playoff against Viborg.

That has led to an exclusion from the matchday squad but he got back on the grass over the weekend, as he played for the kids in the Premier League 2.

The Hammers’ youth team actually lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace but Ashby played the entire 90 minutes in what is likely to be a huge boost to both the player and manager David Moyes.

Ashby is clearly a talent of real promise and it remains to be seen if he will play for the U21s again on Tuesday when they play MK Dons, or if he will be drafted back into the senior squad ahead of the Conference League game against Anderlecht.

Moyes has a decision to make.
