Beautiful you Irons – that’s as good as it gets

|

SPUDS 0 IRONS 1

That was beautiful …as absolutely beautiful as it gets and included a fantastic goal line clearance from Balbuaena with no more than 20 seconds left.

But there was to be no repeat of last week – WE WON and at last got exactly what we deserved in a match which will live long in our memories as we became the first team to score and beat the Spuds in their new gaff.

It gets no better than this – a great game with a fabulous winning goal from Michail Antonio – now back from his very best and stellar performances right across the team.

It may have been an uncertain first half but after the break we looked a team and a half for long periods as the Spuds were put bang on the back foot as the team  answered  the season long demands by their boss to play like a big team.

The clean sheet was the first in weeks and that may have had loads to do with Diop’s return, He was in magnificent form with his old mucker Balbuena alongside looking totally imperious at times.

The young Frenchman even took time off from his defensive duties to go on a run from the half way line before seeing his shot saved.

Ryan Fredericks looked class in the second half but it’s  probably wrong to single out players on a day when all of them became heroes.

Those – including Merson – who reckoned we had gone on holiday a few weeks ago need to feel ashamed. The spirit, determination and quality of football on show today was of the highest order.

It’s worth repeating – BEAUTIFUL…ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

Great goal from Antonio, but also a great assist from Marko too, some really good saves from Fabianski during the game & the save from Balbuena at the end was brilliant which made for a great game to watch for me, especially being on the other side of the world & only the 2nd game live for the Hammers on free to air TV too…COYI!!

Was a very strong performance Diop was back to his best, Fredericks and Masuaku both played solid games with some good moments and Noble was imperious wasn’t he ? Let’s hope we can drive on and perform the way we have in the last 3 games in our following couple COYI!!!

    I’ll take that! Great result!
As a long suffering Hammers fan I would like us to win MORE games than we lose next season. Can’t see us breaking in to the Top 6 soon, but more wins would be greatly appreciated. COYI.
