Benrahma explains twists, turns and failed medical

|

Said Benrahma can’t wait to don the claret and blue as the Hammers ride a high with a defeat of Manchester City the next target on their exciting agenda!

And the 25 year old – having experienced a torturous journey from south west London to the east end – has explained some of the problems along he, the Bees,  and Irons encountered along way including that failed medical.

What should have been a five year permanent deal became a year’s loan with an obligation to buy at the end of it but that makes no difference to the joy the man they have dubbed “the Algerian Messi” is getting from becoming an Iron.

He gave his surprisingly frank interview on the French TV channel Téléfoot Chaîne in France when he revealed  the twists and turns this particularly long set of negotiations had taken

He explained: “It was hard at first, throughout the transfer window. After that, West Ham really wanted me. It was a long process.

There were small details that Brentford and West Ham had to sort out, but it got done and I’m super happy. It took time, but it’s over now. I’m 100% at West Ham.”

The French TV channel also wanted to clarify the reports of him allegedly failing his medical, following stories that there had been real problems over blood tests. The player was keen to put things straight.

Indeed, he paid little attention to the issue and was keen to put things straight as saying:  “No, everything is very good. It was just details that needed sorting out. Some results hadn’t come through yet.

It was either we waited and I didn’t sign or it gets done quickly. That was it, small details, but my health is very, very good.”
