Said Benrahma’s time at West Ham United appears to be drawing to a close, with the arrival of new manager Julen Lopetegui unlikely to alter his departure.

Currently on loan at Lyon, the Algerian winger has impressed in Ligue 1, bagging three goals and three assists in just 13 games. Lyon holds an option to buy Benrahma for a reported £12.3 million, and according to the Evening Standard, Lopetegui is not expected to stand in their way.

Fair play to the lad. While acknowledging Benrahma’s talent, he did struggle under David Moyes’ system and perhaps he did always lack the physical attributes needed to consistently thrive in the Premier League.

Lopetegui’s arrival signifies a new chapter for West Ham, and his focus seems to be on building his squad with fresh acquisitions. Letting Benrahma leave frees up space and potentially resources for these signings.

Benrahma appears to have found a more suitable environment at Lyon. Playing under a more progressive manager in Peter Bosz, he has rediscovered his attacking spark. A permanent move to Lyon could offer him stability and a platform to showcase his talents in Ligue 1.

Despite his past contributions (24 goals and 20 assists in 155 games for West Ham), Benrahma’s struggles under Moyes and potential limitations in the Premier League always cast did doubt on his future at the London Stadium.

Yet another one bites the dust !

I would have him back. Not sure what everyone else thinks??

  • Lee says:

Did not think he was given the chance in an attacking formation

  • Kevin waylen says:

I Wouldn’t have him back he misses so many easy chances! I’ve never ever seen him run down the wing and take on the full back and cross the ball ? And I’ve been watching him for over 2 years. He doesn’t tackle either? He just doesn’t have the pace to be dangerous and he doesn’t score regularly enough. We should take the money and invest it in a young fast winger.

      Spot on Kevin.
Bene does not have the pace, strength or hustle to be successful in the Prem.
Most importantly, he doesn’t appear to have the ‘football IQ’ or mentality to play under Moyes, who requires discipline to execute his game plan or the energy to to play defence and attack (Where he regularly failed to hold the ball, find a simple pass, let alone a killer pass, or score)

  • Essexiron67 says:

    Championship player at his best.

  • Chabane.tiet@yahoo.co.uk says:

Benrahma doesn’t deserve to play for west ham becouse he is too good for a team like west ham specialy under moyes all his foitball is run and cross the ball in the box old fashion English football when he wss at Brentford he was top class player but not under moyes better for him not to play again for west ham

    • rollercoaster hammer says:

….wouldn’t be Algerian, would you? 👓

      • Chabane says:

        Hi
Check again the way how he was playing for Brentford and how he becomes since he joined west ham moyes from day one he was against the idea of bringing benrahma to west ham anyway.

    • Tom says:

It was crazy that moyes bought benrahma then misused him.

  • Moussa says:

Even though I am Algerian but this player is overrated and he doesn’t have the capacity to play in the premier League or even for the Algerian team.

  • Alan says:

Would like to see the U21 being introduced into the first team more otherwise they will be sold to other clubs we have a rich vein of young talent we need to use it Harry did it with Frank Joe and Rio

  • Samir says:

    Moves problem

  • Mounir says:

Really is good player but moyes gave him a left wing but benrahmav want to play same post as it was in Brentford
