This afternoon Essex police draining a fishing lake in Gloucester Park in Basildon have confirmed a body has been found.

Releasing a statement on Facebook in the last few minutes Police said: “Officers searching the fishing lake in Gloucester Park, Basildon, as part of the investigation to find Jack Morrad have suspended their search following the discovery of a man’s body. The discovery was made shortly before 11.30am today, January 3.

The body is yet to be identified, but Mr Morrad’s family have been informed that the search has been suspended. Formal identification will take place in due course.”

West Ham season ticket holder Jack Moorad went missing in the early hours of Sunday 23rd December after spending the afternoon watching West Ham v Watford at the London Stadium, he then carried on to Basildon where he visited a pub and nightclub. A 12-day search was mounted by police and local people to locate the 28-year-old.

Our thoughts are with Jack’s friends and family at this tragically sad time.
