Bowen hailed after matching Salah

Jarrod Bowen has been hailed by team-mate Vlad Coufal after matching Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

The winger has now taken his assist tally for the season into double figures after notching three assists in the 4-0 win over Norwich.

Bowen did not score against the Canaries, but he set up both of Said Benrahma’s strikes and also played in Mikey Antonio before Tim Krul made an error and allowed the striker to tap the ball into an empty net.

The 25-year-old is now the first Hammers player to score 10 goals and lay on 10 assists in the same season since Paolo Di Canio managed to do it in 1999/2000.

Only Salah has done it this term.

It means it is almost inevitable that Bowen will receive a first England call-up in the coming months, raising hopes he could be involved in the 2022 World Cup squad.

And Coufal claims that West Ham players simply need to give Bowen the ball, so good has he been!

He told the London Evening Standard: “Jarrod’s been playing well since last season.

“I’m happy for him and I enjoy playing alongside him. All you have to do is give him the ball because he will either score or provide an assist.”
