Antonio so relieved

|

Mikey Antonio admits he was so relieved to end his Premier League goalscoring drought against Norwich at the weekend.

The Hammers won 4-0 at Carrow Road, beating the already relegated Canaries to take control of the race for seventh-place in the Premier League.

It means the club are still in with a genuine shout of qualifying for the Europa League by finishing sixth, although they may have to beat Manchester City to do so.

Antonio scored the second goal at Norwich, capitalising on a huge defensive mistake, as goalkeeper Tim Krul failed to claim the ball, allowing Antonio to nip in and tap the ball into an empty net.

The Jamaica international had not hit the back of the net since January prior to the clash with Norwich and he is delighted to be back on the scoresheet.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, he was clear in how relieved he was, saying: “It had been weighing on my mind, to be fair. It’s been four months and, as a striker, you want to be involved in the goals. Especially with how I started the season as well – I thought I would be on a few more goals than I’m on right now.

“It is a bit disappointing but it’s been a long, hard season. I’ve enjoyed it, we’ve done well, and we’ve had some great achievements. Hopefully I can keep scoring in the last couple of games.”

Play you game in the penalty area and you’ll score more goals. As Ancelloti told DCL, it should be 1 or at most 2 touches in the box before you are testing the keeper.
